Well, tis high time for a more coherant report on the weekend. I worked like crazy at Rocky's, which is to say I actually worked a little and the surprise is taking my brain by storm. I spent much time with Donna, & watched bad movies she liked as a child. I also learned that Fran Dreshner's voice isn't really her voice, and now I feel dirty. Ewwwwwww. Nik's "I hate my parents" party was way fun, and Ian has a new cross to carry. Rar ha ha. Goals this week: to sleep, eat and be merry. My sister is at camp, and my dad is working. You know where to find me.

Yesterday we had a wonderful, wonderful cook-out barbeque thing at Sam's house, because Sam's house is in the country and because it's in the country it therefore has a very nice grill. Then Blake came over and we all rocked out. This so far is true except the part about Sam's house having a grill & Blake coming over, because Sam's house does not, in fact, have a grill (from this I conclude he doesn't really live in the country) and while Sam & I were driving to get Blake, the car broke down and we walked the rest of the way to Blake's house, which is in the middle of the biggest swamp this side of the Mississippi, or at least that's what the mosquitoes think. But then, when I was just about to give up and be sensible and go home and sleep, Bekah invited us all to the drive-in and all was well in the world. So it was wonderful, wonderful, but not a cook-out at all.

Last night I dreamed about Rocky's, but it was on the third floor of a 10 story building in a very urban area that looked a little like London Road built up. It had a badly painted chinese eatery, sea foam and purple, and from the drive-through of Rocky's you could see the happy people eating chinese, and Donna & I spent many hours discussing the merits of pizza versus rice, always deciding in Rocky's favour but secretly eating Chinese when no managers were looking. Then it was a few days later, and the city's evil mayor decided that no buildings could obstruct his view of lake Altoona (i think this mayor is evil and stupid). When I got to work, our building had been shaved of its upper floors, leaving a few feet of rocky's, but the ovens and other essential things were gone. The bookstore downstairs was completely unscathed, so we all got jobs there except Doug who pouted for awhile and then started an out door 'eat italian and get fat!' trend that all the cool cats in hollywood wanted, so we all got hired back, but the health department shut us down- something about our inadequate supply of doors. I had a fight with a health inspector, "if we only have two feet of wall surrounding our dining area, why do we need doors?" "lack of dual egress is a serious violation. I'm going to go ahead and give you a fine of a million dollars" "I don't think we have that much dough..."

So no cliff jumping yesterday because it was 'tooooooooooo cold.' My friends are wimps... but we will go sometime this week, kids. Last night I went to Walker's for a movie night; we watched Swingers, Igby Goes Down, and Imposters, which is the most hilarious movie ever. Watch it now or go blind. Then Mr. Walker shared some fond college memories, and we all had a good chuckle. Ah, for the good old days.

It's official: I have worked at my job too long. Yesterday and today I woke up naturally at 5:30 to go there. No alarm clock. No puking cats. No daddy saying, "gonna go to work today? he he..." No call from Shannon, "are you planning on coming in today?" Nothing. I woke up at 5:30 a.m.
It's my theory that anything that thinks it needs to be done before 10 a.m. doesn't really, and the closer one gets to 6 a.m. the less it needs to be done. Before 6 is a fool's errand, and I don't even want to think about those people who get up at 4 to jog and shower before work. The inverse, of course, is true when you're staying up after midnight: if you're able to still be breathing at 6 a.m., you are really cool.
But in good news I told my boss I'm quitting later this summer. ¶ 12:50 0 comments
