Did anyone out there watch the 10 o'clock news Saturday? In case you did, and in case you were worried about the two Eau Claire preteens reported missing, but in no "known imminent danger," you may rest assured that they have been found. Yes, Missing Girl #1 was my dear daddy's girlfriend's daughter, Heather, the best-loved androgynous mass that answers the phone at my house. I am so damn proud. Heather, and her stone-mullet awesome best friend Skyler, walked to the gas station Friday night for some pop. But instead of walking home, they stopped by at one of Skyler's friends houses, got drunk & stoned with some twenty+ year old guys and phoned home to say they were hitchhiking to Minnesota. Why? Spose it sounds like an intelligent thing to do if you're a) drunk b) stoned or c) incredibly stupid. So Kin (daddy's girlfriend) got real worried; 'my baby's been kidnapped! in minnesota!' and spent the whole weekend looking for Heather. The police were involved too (which I suppose kept them distracted from my driving all weekend, and for that I can be thankful). So now heather cannot see skyler, leave the house, or do drugs. Go figure. We'll see how long this lasts, as my house is my house and if heather drinks my juice that i buy for myself I may be doing some unlawful things to her.

Me = Sarah Hope = Armelle Umay (or armella) = Sofia (con accento) = Kira
because
'Sarah Hope' is my proper Christian name, Sarah means 'princess' in Hebrew, and Armelle means princess in a dialect of French. Umay means Hope in Hindi. I know it makes no sense, but I like 'Armella' or 'armelle' pronounced the spanish way best (ar-may, ar-may-ya). Sofia was my Spanish class name for several years, and Kira is one of my favorite literary personalites from the book Gathering Blue. And also the shortest to type and best to whisper with an inspired echo in future rollar discos.

Mary, Donna, Greg & I visited Pig's Ear, Minnesota (St. Paul) again yesterday, and as expected it was hardcore rock solid opera awesome. For a few moments we could not find Tony and it was scary. Oh where was he? Well, we were late so he'd gone to a computer lab. But then we found him and all was well. We visited the zoo again, and decided that a house with two pet tamarines, two pet tabby cats, a polar bear, many fish and a few smart birds would be best. We will have a mustache groomer for the two tamarines, but no Elton John. However, we will find a way to be very rich and have Tori Amos instead on the rotating stage, which is in fact infinently better. We played high school games in a courtyard at Hamline and made an owner of two golden retrievers hate us. And Greg & I aren't boring. Mary.

Well, the war party was a blast in every way short of actual explosians. Not even Max brought real grenades, I must say I was very, very surprised. Nate & Kirk have my vote for best costumes, but I'm in love with Ian's hat and insist that he wear it every day. Bekah was Helen, too cool for words, no? Mary's army of Love for John Cusack was way cool too. And those Mongols? Who ate MY CAKE? But we did get a replacement cake. Ian & I are planning on calling an ambulance one of these days and then battling. But first I must check if I have health insurance. We're going to fill his flask and politely hand it back and forth as we beat each other up. However, I'm not convinced this is a fair fight, as I'm the only one who thinks head butting is actually a bad idea. I know that the more often I say something is a bad idea, the more likely it will actually come to pass. So I'm a bit worried.

Mary has turned 18 years old.

Thomas does not like the White Strips. I had hoped so much to raise a cat with charm, wit, knowledge of when daddy's coming so as to get off the table, and good music taste. Perhaps I set my standards too high.
Well, the convention was mind-numbingly boring, but I had fun because my cousin Larissa brought her three kids this year, whom I love to pieces. New distractions, new worries. And I promise myself this once again: never again. We will see.
My dad decided that since our mother had devoted the entire weekend to listening to Jehovah's Witnesses (and their lies!), he would give us some real education. He has this totally awesome 80s-rific movie, Witnesses of Jehovah, made by some ex-witnesses (apostates! OH GOD!) in 1986. It was interesting, nothing I didn't really note before, except one of the main interviewees was a former member of the Governing Body. Even though I don't believe in any of the crap the JWs spit out, I've always assumed that the people really high up there truly believed it. Ray Franz (I think his name was Ray Franz) remembers being one of the Governing Body differently: they passed new rulings, not from the bible, but from tradition and what they could rationalize. Weird. Ms. Rachel only stayed awake through the movie for its 80s-rific graphics. Alas, to actually think about anything would implode her skull.
One interesting thing is that my dad's dad's mom's mom was annointed. Okay, so we are talking about a time when one out of five Witnesses thought they were annointed, but it's still odd that my family has been Witnesses almost as long as there have been Witnesses. ¶ 07:16 0 comments

And I'm back in the big city!
What a day for getting lost. I drove home from Rochester, except I think I went through Iowa to do it. I saw more harvestors than I previously remember being between Rochester and Wabasha. I have decided I hate Wabasha, and the movie Grumpy Old Men also, because every time one enters Wabasha there is this sign that says "WELCOME TO WABASHA, HOME OF THE FILM GRUMPY OLD MEN," and if one is cool, like me, and enters Wabasha three times before finding that damn bridge to Wisconsin, one realizes that that was a really bad movie, and should never be a town's sole claim to fame.
I entered Wisconsin at 3:15, stopped at my house for a quick car swap-a-roo, and got to Rocky's by 4:00. Get down and praise me now, bitch. Swearing is cool again, it Gives God Glory. ¶ 21:37 0 comments

(i earlier posted a quite sarcastic remark on my prospects for the weekend, but then I realized sarcasm is hard to read, and that few people realize how sarcastic I am even in speaking. So I will be not sarcastic, at least for a few lines: this weekend I'm going to Rochester, Minnesota, with my mother, my sister, and assorted others, to listen to God's sterilized word delivered from a podium in a cleaned-up hockey stadium. I do this to keep my mother happy, because if mommy ain't happy then ain't nobody happy. I personally feel that corporate religion is boring and a waste of my time, but I will probably see many friends & family...)
