Accountable Infinity However (Letters to Myself)
'I take a drink from the Bitterroot River...'--IG--
The house three down from myne burned this morning at 4 a.m.
i made lasagna yesterday (for my roommates+Jon & Andrea) & it turned out well.
My boss is gone for the next two weeks (shall we actually be productive in the library?).
i don't know what i dreamed about last night
but i woke up this morning crying.
[while my rational mynd knows it's just that 1. i'm tired of being a dissappointment 2. i'm tired of living in people's shadows 3. i'm tired of rationalizing every damn thing i do 4. i have to fucking explain why these things upset me every time 5. time is moving too fast and 6. i am physically tired too; my emotional mynd (must be)says(-ing) 1. shut up,

Apologies all around, i'll get to them eventually.

new photos.
Also, a
bunch of photos you've probably already seen.
Today is the first day since i've been back in Madison that i have NOT been in the Geology Library. Yesterday, though i did not work, i went there to do Structure
homebusywork & ended up talking with half my lab co-horts for two hours instead. Not that i have a problem with being popular within the department, but it has become impossible to actually do work at work or near work or... well, anywhere that i live or would work. Including my house & Jon's house too (everybody is too fucking fascinating for my own good!).
E.O. Wilson is HERE (as in Madison HERE) today and the tickets were SOLD OUT when i tried to get them... i, unfortunately, have a discussion session during his talk anyway, not to mention grocery shopping & an already promised ride. But BUGGER THAT, IT'S E.O. WILSON.
And i can't take my "fun" classes pass/fail... so i actually have to try. Bugger that too.
p.s.
Yet another entry in the "Isn't Bush the Awesomenestest Eva?!" category.

"So no-one knows who put the meat in the (bathroom!) sink?"(followed by, "It's... probably still safe to eat(?)"
followed by long debate, throwing out of ground meat & retrieving, raccoon hunting, and eventual meat-eating (no, not by me).)
Yes, yet more fun times in the house on Chandler Street!
(
Steve (specutively): "How many types of wand porn are there?"
Mike (definitively): "Eight."
Jon (majestically): "...and you tell me I'm too literal."
Mike: "I'm going to kill Jon for eating that pot pie."
Me: "And i'm going to be irate about his death."
Mike: "Irate at me for killing him or irate at him for being so easily killed?"
Me: "At you for valuing his life at only $1.59 plus tax."
Jon: *looks up 'irate' on m-w.com*)All conversation has been either small talk ("the weather today! oye!") or deep subjects (fate of the world, depression, etc.). Whatever happened to the in-between subjects?
Because i
like those in-between subjects.
And i like people with obsessions.
No, make that love. Love obsessions. Luvre, even.
But with no effort to change this state of affairs:
sunday small talk: i have so damn much to do.
winter real subject: i have not a future plan.
"Why don't we get Sarah drunk so she'll do our dishes again?"
iterative evolution & soviet politicsThis semestre will be amazing. And yay for Fridays, because there's a new
Softer World and because i'm gonna dress up as a vampire to go see a movie. i'm a bit sad to be missing Sar-Ivy's second annual obnoxiously-dressed prom, and no one else can work tommorrow so i'm missing a uu con... but oye, can't do it all.
What are other types of undead other than vampires, ghouls, zombies, mummies and ghosts?
"classical things?," a table for five, accidental naps & cheap lamination jobs
life after the scene changeLong days in Madison before all the students have arrived: interesting. Never been here before like this, with time to kill and people to kill it with. Frantic energy, twice gone for not-bad-billiards, a dozen cell phone chats (none with my mother, i'm a very bad daughter), a few old school Ani albums, new reprints for the wall (sorry about the $50 at Kinko's, RGE, but trust me it's worth it), a whole novel in an afternoon, too many acquaintances at Union South, and sleeping in for reals except for that DAMN PLUMBER AGAIN filling the last few days before the final semestre.
Not only have i already created three significant scheduling blunders but i managed to relocate one bag to RGE's car and the other (complete with the calender i actually use) to Milwaukee (curses!). Let us not even discuss the most likely locations of current knitting projects. So not only do i feel like a freshman for having to look up one building location, i don't even have a backpack of my own right now. Academic excellence, hear ye, hear ye, O your tainted calls.
yay, schedule:
Structure, 3 (prereq for field camp)
History of Science-Classical Period, 3
Thought of Gandhi, 3 (highly reccommended by a friend)
geomicrobiology, 3 (exciting to obsessive degree)
Cultural Anthropology, 3 (still (opps) have to do the U's ethnic studies requirement)
indenpendent study on forams, 1-3 (which means i get to use the SEM to photograph them! yay!)
Plus possible field trips, TBA, (in which case something'll have to go (probably, unfortunately, the history class)) & ongoing "i love living with Eighty-Five Thousand Books on Geology!... by which i mean they pay me."
AND
the social calendar for February is already totally filled:
weekend:
1. trip to Art Museum in MN with Elyse (ECites take note; we'll be home one of those days for you!)
2. as-of-now hypothetical (but 90% likely) roommates-across-the-states weekend long party (can someone check for me if that date will work? danke.)
3 & 4. Hawai'i stuff.
Oye.
until we both die of our chosen cancers
have you ever thought so much you couldn't say anything?
i hate that.
it's friday; time to water the plantsMore importantly, it's friday the thirteenth, which makes it time for a birthday party!
Spent the whole day thus far at the library, vacuuming everylastbit of the reminiscent shell carpeting and the "post Bahaus WOW!" parts too. It clearly had not been vacuumed since the building's renovation, as carpet remnants were among the many fun small things i found. i am now the only person in the world who knows the secrets spots of the library that cannot be vacummed due to deficiencies of cord length, plug-in availability and thrice-rewalled-rooms.
That was some really interesting sentences on a really boring subject... maybe i AM an old woman. Or maybe, as my boss says, we need a rumba. And a cat. She didn't say that, but you know, in my opinion, no store and thus no public place is complete without resident felines (like that "family friendly" store in Arkansas, cat complete!). A cat to watch the rumba wurrrr, a rumba to clean up after the damn cat.
We also have a new full-timer here, and i am super liking my position of providing expertise opinions on all the goings-on of the department.
Hmmm, is there any other news...? It turns out my sister might actually be my brother. That... is surprising.
The funny thing about it, dear RGE, is that Dad & i had a very long discussion on your health during my drive down here, and he said he would have bet money on the extra testing being totally useless (pocket padding for the clinic, see).
i should have taken that bet! Damn
sister you whatever, tell me next time you find out crazy things like that before dad does (and more importantly, don't totally die of undiagnosed things. Good job! Not eating that day, that is.).
Because then i wouldn't be so broke.
other subjects that just crossed my mynd:
1. "information is for suckers!"
2. "I see Orion and say nothing."
3. i need to remember my checkbook next time i try to buy books
4. ironically, after months of not being able to register, now that i could i have a hold due to a lost library book and can't finish fixing my schedule...
5. damn! damn! damn!
6. why do i swear so much when typing? seriously.
mineralogy mystery! solved! [and i know that guy too]
Back in madison, should talk to the boss, fix schedule, buy books, clean house before roommate comes back from skiing. Guess what i did today instead? Slept in till 2, got real confused because i thought the clock said 11, listened to Jon's roomies argue about X-men, and ate grilled cheese. Yum yum.
RGE, do you have my backpack yet? i'm rather... useless without it. Not that that's anything new.
Van Morrison & accidents with a lightswitchJust spent several (i don't even know how many) days with the hizzouse/homeless boys (Ian has been renamed "Beauttiful," Heidi needs a nap and 3 less margaritas per day, and Blake needs to be beaten up more). Everyone seems okay, not too much reportable gossip. Went to Acoustic with Donna & Ratchel just now, then Truckers (and miraculously found something for Jon despite the fact he's even less opinionated about objects than i am), and home. Laundry. Blake's stopping by to finally pick up his stuff from August... i'm sorry i've been so bad about calling everybody back. i suck.
And honestly, for the first time in two years i'm actually excited to go to Madison.
i registered yesterday, my schedule is a mess but i'll fix it tommorroww. My boss FINALLY emailed me today, i can work the rest of the week/&saturday if i want to (the Hell? i sold my computre back to my dad already, i do have some time limits! Oye!).
1. Love love.
2. no shop talk
3. no two bad movies in one night e'er again. kay?
"Yes, you drank all the soap. Now fix the internet."-Bekah-
for those of you NOT flying to Hawai'i February 18th, you have no excuse not to go to Cole's show at the City Limits in Stanley, WI.
i know i'm the only one who was worried about this, but:Habib & Denton are still accounted for! ...thanks Kevin
Baby Got Book ...thanks Nik
Tony, where was the Haiku chat??
god Google Earth is fun!
...except Bekah thinks it proves that nothing in South America is interesting.

This is the officially requested post on what Donna & Bryan in fact are saying. They're a bit drunk & i, apparently, am in a bit of a mood. RR & RGE are present/accounted for too, earlier movie time was had with Bekah & Jack. RR's right on the "no two stupide movies in one night" rule--it took us a full twenty minutes to figure out Daddy hid RGE's keys in his coat pocket.
i'm going back to madison on Wendesday. i'm going to keep typing as for as long as it takes for Bryan to stop talking about all my male friends he likes/doesn't.

"Oh, I told Janeane I did, mmmmhmmm, I saw a thirty pointer. TWELVE on each side!"--Bryan is from Minnesota after all--
So i just spent two full days at the farm; very depressing. But RGE still writes funny things, and now i'm at the hizzouse with Donna, Rachel, Max, Nik, Nate, Ian & Damien.
"Because God Wills It!" --Bryan's response to every question--
You know, Bryan, my dear Bryan, sometimes i type things in reference to you not neccessarily using your real name, O fly paper of flitting nick-names You.
subject change!
i write stories in math symbols! yay!
[... so i need a symbol for "subject change here"]
subject change! again!
i have decided i'm living a meta-life because:
1. on aim my sister's gf in AR yelled at me for hanging up on her whilst screaming for car keys in WI; she was in the right; the story gets even more confusing from there.
2. half this post is dedicated to people who are asleep upstairs.
3. i
tricked convinced my dad
into giv
inge me half his child-support check (which i THINK I DESERVED I AM HALF HIS CHILDREN! aaaaaaand i will clean his house anyway! MEIN GUT!)!
4. the only thing i really, really want (but not in the Spice Girls sort of way) is for someone to tell me what to do and no one will.
5. ..those indecisive bitches them (that i love).
subject change! O yet again!
i didn't want to go out to thee bar tonight, so i "gamed" it up at N&B's, with Kirk, Johnny A., and Craig that random Englishman we've always known; then to Donna's for crafty-ish time with MaRy & Donna; Bryan brought home Salti & some random other guys and now it's late at night and i feel the healthiest/most awake i have all day. i'm going to Stanley for the next few days... and as of now i'm thinking of going to Madiosn early. Who, me, responsible? That thought belongs in the meta-life section.
"Have you ever been face-hit by a sack of quarters?" --also! Bryan!--
"It is never a good idea to compliment the dimples of one whom you don't know has never been shot in the face by a BB gun." --some guy Tony knew, highly paraphrased--
New Years+Alcohol=Really Tame Party. Does anyone else find the fact that the more drinks we get the earlier we go to bed odd? None of you are normal humans. New Year's was also too much stimulation, given my four madisonites to (somewhat)care for & the many surprise drop-ins (Johnny A., his Englishman & Michiganite, Sierra, Teresa C., Cole, Lawton at 3, et cetera) and the fact that half i'd like to see regularly-much left yesterday/today ALREADY (Tony, Allison, Elyse). Um, why am i still on the NYs party? Oh, and Kirk spent four hours in jail ("Is a DUI a felony?" "No, because if it was half the state couldn't vote."). Yay, that. Shit.
Last night was superb calmness with a bag full of playboys, entertainment weekly-s & RS-es (people, subscribe to other more different magazines, pllllllllllease!) and Reno 911! and Donna, RR, Blake, Elyse & i collaging, eating delicious chocolate chip bars (Donna's mum=the BEST), drinking coffee and smoking outside (for once, the landlord's coming). i slept at home for only the second night this break, woke up with Thomas and feeling sicker than i have in a long time. It took me a full ten shivering minutes to decide to move rather than just give up and die. My body does not like this 'no food, only coffee!' thing, surprise.
Sunday Jake woke us (Jon+me) up because he thought my mom was a sniper (sunglasses & unmarked car, uhhuh). Then she gave all of them piggy banks (yes, ALL FOUR OF THEM, though they'd never met before blah!) including their names, and they decided she was something slightly creepier than a sniper; that which is un-name-able. Not that we'd want to... oye. My life is weird. And the Madison people didn't stay long at all and that is sad (i am such a baby).
Does it bode well for 2006 that my mom did two notably insane things before i'd been awake twenty minutes?
[not as bad as Kirk's four hours in jail...kay, stopping complaining]
My dad just called me and then hung up on me.
hm.
Does that mean he'll still buy me a sandwich?
"But she BIT me!" --Dave--
"Now Dave, if i whined about it every time Ratchel bit me, i wouldn't be able to talk about anything else!" --me--
[on that note, we're throwing a "RR Bit Me!" party, by previous dental invitation only]
rocks, by any definition/clip art indescribable
