Accountable Infinity However (Letters to Myself)

a kiss for a bimbo

So very tired. Yesterday everything broke: first my bike and then the electricity at work, which is probably the most frustrating thing ever. So i walked most of the way to/from work... oye. It was all good, though as the yet-unnamed Ian/Heidi/Adam house threw a bbq that didn't involve me being incinerated. And then today i slept in, so the boss wasn't too happy with me, and made me do a catamaran all by my lonesome... at least nothing broke, since disgusting doesn't count.

And Ian & i will never be pirates together, he doesn't hate catamarans as they deserve to be hated.

in space!

some unbelievable things

The other 3/5 of the Exodus arrived late late Friday night, and we all rocked out like we meant it... for only an hour or so, 'cause i had to sleep. Unfortunately, during the mere 2-block drive from their house back to our house, Keely got a frantic phone call about a friend being passed out in a street somewhere, and we then spent two hours tracking those girls down and getting them not-run over. It was absolutely ridiculous, as all that happened was one girl got too drunk, and her two friends were also too drunk to figure out how to get her in bed. In any case, i got maybe 3 hours of sleep before having to work Saturday, and have had a bad cold ever since. Nyquill is my best friend.

At some point Sunday there was an impromptu party (hypothetically) for my birthday, but pretty sure that party would have happened either way, it being the OMG YOU'RE HERE FEST, but it was a lot of fun, with long talks of all the (many, many) things that make Heidi gag and Ian's tale of the smallest G&T ever (made on a penny, ingested by simply touching his lips to said penny), and going through all of Brenda's old photos. Monday we all (Heidi, Ian, Adam, Brenda, Keely & i) went to Whatcom falls (in one frickin' car), and yesterday pretty much did nothing. Ah well, adventures are promised after they get their house put together, and i frantically want shelves before i unpack, so i guess i understand.

and i'm old, really really old. Hm.

OMG!
Heidi, Ian & Adam will be here tomorrow--or maybe even today! If they don't get here today, Brenda & i will have tons of fun moving all our stuff: Ian's dad drove halfway across the country with it, terribly awesome of him, but he has back problems & won't be moving any heavy stuff. Brenda has some back issues too, so pretty sure i'll be in that club by bedtime tonight.

My birthday being in a few days miraculously solved my mini-money crisis. Gotta love being born, no?

on being a kicked-out seamstress

i visited Barbie in Portland this weekend, and i have got to say it was one the most bizarre weekends of my life. Now that i've seen her, i'm less worried in that general-i'm-not-sure-what's going on sort of way; instead i'm worried in a few very specific ways. Oh well, what to do? It was lovely to see her, and meet her friends, but as for Portland itself, i'm terribly unimpressed: it's probably the most claustrophobic major city i've ever been in.

Saturday we went to three tattoo parlors; Tony had his knee done by a guy named Dymond, and Barbie had part of her leg done by a pagan/uu/Sagittarius/girl named Raven. We pretty much fell in love with Raven, and stayed at the Skeleton Key a little longer than necessary. But if you're in Portland and you need a tattoo, you now know where to go.

And the other thing i learned this weekend is that strippers go to nude beaches, because they need even tan lines. And now you know too.

are you interested in geothermal?

not if it's the wrong one

Almost every Monday we go to karaoke, and Brenda is sad that she has no gay boy to sing duets with. This week, i totally delivered, as Shane & his two friends Tadashi & Travis visited us here. Monday we went to Seattle, and walked around a lot there, went to the EMP museum, and in general were ridiculous. Shane spent most of his time here perfecting his yooper accent, and the three of them introduced themselves with fraternity names everywhere we went... craziness. And i should be going to Portland this weekend, to see Barbie & Tony, so i'm excited for that.

We've had yet another internet meltdown, so sorry for the extreme brevity (bordering on boringness) of this post.

"Ryan Stiles! Okay! You're at the community food co-op, where they cooperatively sell food to the community, and a hot lesbian just gave you your turkey! GO!"--Shane to Brenda, causing massive hilarity--

ten years in the rain

Shane is visiting me! in like an hour! (good thing i called him, i thought he was going to be here tomorrow) OMG!

but the house is clean, and other than that it's not like i have to do anything to prepare for their visit. it should be interesting, my first interstate visitor, and i have a few more hypothetically planned. i love my friends.

Pretty much just caught up on my internets & walked Kashi today. So many dogs out, it was craziness... and i melted in the heat hardcore.

the fourth of July:
Dogs hate it. But at least i only have a small dog to contend with this year.

And we're totally at the aphelion today.

Oh, and i finished Green Mars, but now it's been more than a week since i started Red Mars, so i guess i won't set any personal records with that trilogy. Sad, i know, but pretty much the best books ever... and i'm excusing myself the days i'm having to wait to get the books from the library, because is it really my fault it's only open 12-6 on weekdays only? i think not. Had i the means, i'd totally have read them all in less than a week.

Because they're AWESOME. Kim Stanley Robinson is a living legend.

mud, mud, mud... rocks!

Today i went invertebrate-gathering with Zach. We went to three places: the first was very, very muddy and had lots of clams (mostly manella, but some of his purple varnish), some polychaete worms (lots of bright orange ones and one weird, huge one), and some little crabs. The second was much less muddy (because it was all rocky) and had less clams (but it was high tide by the time we got there so they might still be there), but some anemones and these really cool jointed-shell things that i don't remember the name of. The third was all sandy, a spit of sand by Hope (!) Island, and had a really impressive amount of crabs. Big crabs, little crabs, crabs in piles, crabs all by themselves. It was craziness, crabtastic craziness. (There were children there too, and i really wanted to give some of them crabs just so i could tell that story... but i didn't, sad!) His clams were there too, and impressive sized seaweed, and a stray dog, but those last two things aren't invertebrates, so i guess it doesn't count.

Then we went to Deception Pass (impressive rocks! yay!) and Anacortes, which is cute (in a bit of kitshy small town way, plywood cut-outs and everything), and decided to search for yet more inverts on the marina there... which we found: anemones, mussels, orange stuff (name? forgotten), and limpets. And we saw a $949,000 boat for sale, and decided not to get it....

Then i came home and painstakingly solved our internet crisis. See?

i'm tired... i walked a lot, and at the first (muddy, muddy) place lost a boot (in the frickin' indescribably gross mud) and discovered i'm less intrepid than i thought (which wasn't much, really) and waited out the rain smoking in a CCC cabin thing. But then i looked at rocks, so it's all okay.

OMG!

We got internet! My life is better in every possible way already! (except for the fact that i have like a million boring things i need to look up/do and i spent most of the evening reading blogs and on youtube, but whatever... usefulness tomorrow!)
