Effect afore cause
or
I'm going to Washington!
A week ago I banned these books from myself:
The Happy Isles of Oceania, Paul Theroux
Kites Strings of the Southern Cross,, Laurie Gough
A Sea Vagabond's World, some French guy
Maiden Voyage, Tania Abei
Italian Dreams, Barbara Grizzuti Harrison
The Waters In Between, some Canadian guy
Small boatmen's bible, some guy (I haven't
actually read this, but it compliments the
collection, ay?)
in short, my favorite travel writings. I
thought, hey, a girl is nothing without her
vices, but sometimes it's good to be something
other than my vices. I put them on my secondary
bookshelf in the hallway, hidden from my view.
Then I got real lonely for them. Part of the
problem is that my dad's ex-girlfriend Sandy has
my copy of BGH's Visions of Glory, and well,
somedays I just gotta read some BGH, even if
only a line or two... short attention span.
Okay, yes, I DO own all her other books, but
really only VoG & ID are good books... An
Accidental Biography is rather boring & The
Ashtonishing World is downright banal. So
whoops! one strike against the boycott.
Strike two came when I was thinking about
Morocco & I remembered Laurie Gough had a
chapter about Fez... whoops! that one's back in
my room, and that certainly is by far the worst
of Sarah's wanderlust books.
Strike three: I've decided to move to
Washington, for the fall at least. And I
remembered that PtJ talks about Puget Sound a
bunch... well, at this point any efforts at self-
control of the meandering mynd seemed
pointless. So they're all back where they
started.
And I'm going to Washington!!
Okay, these subjects have little to do with each other other than happening at the same time. But just so everyone knows, I'm planning on going to Bellingham for the fall though I'll probably be back in the spring for more school (blah). ¶ 07:55
