Exhaustion, Shame, and bad things for Breakfast
As Missouri goes, so goes the nation.
The populace of Missouri should be trusted with nothing, as every one of them i've ever known thinks grits and racism is a good idea.
Goodbye Democracy, twas a good run. Somewhere between the Monroe Doctine and red-baiting the Farm Security Administration away i still thought you had a chance, but this week more than 50% of Americans showed themselves accepting of the lies, and i finally know you are gone. I'm not even sure if this is even an Oligarchy anymore, and i find that i'd be okay with even that.
Yesterday i honestly saw a high school friend, on his way to vote, who was STILL undecided. He said bush has one great thing going for him, that 'he has the right view on the gay marriage issue' to which i said, 'yup, if you're a bigot.' I admit
that's not the way to persuade those of the christian right to a more sensible view of the matter, but it's true. i am so sick of all this... and i'm sick of cheap kleenex.
I am sicker than i have been in years, and as i think i hallucinated Monday night, i want to believe all events since then are equally unreal. There is no way it could be this bad. Some people think it has to get bad before it can get better, but sometimes it can get so bad there's no better to go back to. Hello, anthropogenic climate change, i'm glad to see you outlasted your daddy democracy [and/or civilization itself].
This town is eerie. It is quiet as i have never heard it before.
And now... Comrades of our Canadian Exodus. I have these vague plans of moving to Canada, but part of me feels that this country of idiots needs all the semi-rational people it can get. On the other hand, i am exhausted of being ashamed.

I am exhausted as well, my love. We're planning on leaving soon. I like Montreal, Nik favors Vancouver. Some of the house might come, too.
I will always miss home, and I will always be an American at heart. But I cannot resign myself to living in shame any longer. I think, very seriously, that leaving might be a best option. Let's talk about it soon.
